Abstract:
Jung (Jung, B. M.: Variabilidade dos Fluxos de Sedimentos em Suspensão para a Lagoa dos Patos e os Processos de Trocas com o OceanoAdjacente, Master's thesis, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande - FURG, Rio Grande, Brazil, 2017) used the suspended sediment rating-curve approach to derive SPM concentrations from riverine outflow at the Guaíba River (from 1988 to 1990), Camaquã River (1988-1990), and São Gonçalo Channel (2009-2014). The method assumes a uniform flow in the water column therefore SPM estimates are considered uniform from surface to bottom. The author's work used monthly averaged SPM field data from 'Agência Nacional de Águas' (ANA; http://www.snirh.gov.br/hidroweb), Baisch (Baisch, P.: Les Oligo-Elements Metallique du Systeme Fluvio-Lagunare dos Patos (Bresil) - Flux et deverir, Ph.D. thesis, L'Université Bordeaux I, 1994) and Avila (Avila, R. A.: Distribuição do material particulado em suspensão e suas inter-relações com diferentes propriedades no estuário da Lagoa dosPatos, Master's thesis, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande - FURG, Rio Grande, Brazil, 2013) to calibrate its rating-curve equation. The SPM data presented here is the information estimated from the monthly riverine outflow for the Guaíba and Camaquã Rivers.
