Comment:
This data set include 17 shapefiles that form a map of woodlands, shrublands and grasslands of the Cerrado biome in the year 2000, based on Landsat images at 30 meter spatial resolution. We use a map of anthropic areas and water bodies as a mask for mapping. Both vegetation types map and mask were prepared within the scope of the "Prevention, Control and Monitoring of Irregular Burnings and Forest Fires in the Cerrado" Project.
After registering and applying contrast in the 118 images that cover the biome, Linear Models of Spectral Mixture were generated and, from the vegetation fraction, the thresholds of three formations defined for each image. The method of classification was the slicing of images. After the slicing procedures, the classified images were vectorized and their features smoothed, visually inspected and edited manually.
In addition to the woodlands, shrublands and grasslands classes, the map included areas not observed due to the presence of clouds and their shadows.
The results show in a spatially explicit way the distribution of the areas covered with natural vegetation in the year 2000, their relation with the total area of biome and how it is divided in the three main types of vegetation.
