Comment:
He used a Reaumur thermometer, constructed by Mayerstein in Göttingen. The thermometer was suspended at the southern of the building, at seven feet above the ground, two feet from the wall and 30m above the sea level. It was not exposed to sunlight (direct or reflected), located below a roof that did not permit the irradiance during the night and the air circulates freely around the instrument. From September 1865 to April 1866 the port was under blockade and the lighthouse was out of order. For this reason there are not measurements during this period.
