357-M0075B-1R-1,010.000SedimentBasaltic brecciaSedimentary breccia with clasts of basalts. The basalts show aphyric texture with vesicles < 1mm. Some have a very thin coating of Fe-Mn-oxides and oxidation rims up to 0.5cm in thickness. Interval 0-12cm only contains sediments, which are made offoraminiferous ooze and fragments of shells. Interval 12-31cm contains two basalt clasts (6cm + 5cm in size). Interval 31 + contains smaller pieces of basalts and greenish clays that could be chlorite-talc.10YR 7/4Structures: Open fractures=2 -- 1-5 per 10cm; Veins=0 -- No veins; Foliation=0 -- MassiveVeins: Shape=0 -- No veinsFractures: Morphology=IrregularMinerals: Carbonate; Other
357-M0075B-2R-1,012.278RubbleMixed rubblePebbles and fragments of variably deformed talc-rich schists and basalts that are locally rounded. The fragments range in size from 0.5 to 3cm.Protolith to be defined after TSMinerals: Amphibole; Chlorite; Other; Oxides; Plagioclase; Talc
357-M0075B-2R-1,922.368RubbleTalc-amphibole schist rubbleLight green to dark fragments - possibly drilling-induced - (mud, sand-sized up to 4cm) of highly foliated talc-schist. Thin section at 16-19cm is a talc-rich sheared rock with some possible dolerite clasts, no obvious chromite, and little tremolite. It may be mainly sheared vein material. Semi-quant XRD: 16-19cm - tlc (95), chl (5)100Minerals: Chlorite; Clay minerals; Talc

357-M0075B-2R-2,013.208Metamorphic/Fault RockMetadoleritePebbles of fine-grained meta-dolerite, possibly meta-basalt up to 5cm. 357-M0075B-3R-1,013.982RubbleTalc-amphibole schist rubbleTalc-amphibole-chlorite schist rubble. Loose pebble and unconsolidated matrix-supported breccia. Most of the pebbles are sigmoidal shaped and foliated.100Minerals: Amphibole; Chlorite; Other; Serpentine; Talc
357-M0075B-3R-1,3424.322SedimentPolymict brecciaUnconsolidated, matrix-supported breccia. Matrix consists of a fine-grained assemblage of talc, amphibole and chlorite. The clasts are similar to the previous interval. Semi-quant XRD: 51-52cm - tlc (49), chl (48), chl-smec (2), chrys (2)100Minerals: Amphibole; Chlorite; Other; Talc
357-M0075B-3R-1,7434.722Metamorphic/Fault RockTalc-amphibole-chlorite schistChlorite-amphibole schist with meta-dolerite dikes. The schistose material consists of finely alternating yellow-green and dark grey green levels (Talc-bearing). Sometimes the dark grey layers form elongated lenses (from 110 to 116cm). The shear zonecontains both the shistose talc-amphibole foliated material with clasts (dark gray) that in some cases are angular. Milonitic fabric, apparent Semi-brittle foliation 090/30. Dikes: 102 -110cm, clast within tremolite shear zone, with sheared materialsat the contact, dolerite also at the bottom core from 126cm to the end. Thin section at 78-86cm is a talc-chlorite-tremolite schist, with many shear bands and doleritic material at the upper end of the section which is chloritized and sheared but butis perhaps intrusive into the schist. Chlorite pull-apart veins are associated with this Thin section at 97-100cm (poor polish) is an intensely foliated talc schist, with boudinaged oxides and pull-aparts filled with chlorite. Crenulation cleavage isdeveloped. Some pieces may have chloritised plagioclase phenocrysts representing metadolerite clasts. Thin section at 100-102cm is a metadolerite dyke (or perhaps two dykes) that appears to be intruded across the fabric of a schistose fault rock thatincludes amphibole, chlorite and epidote.
