The barometer was aneroid until March 1873, then a mercurial one replaced it. The fifth greatest rainfalls were 8th June 1865 (117mm), 25th September 1872 (115.5mm), 22nd March 1876 (100mm), 20th July 1876 (100.8mm) and 31st March 1877 (97.5 mm).
