Comment on the AMS-Dates (from the written communication with P.M. Grootes, 2002-07-16):
KIA16235: The humic acid fraction is about 290 ± 54 years (~5.5 sigma) younger and a seed found in the sample even 405 ± 50 years (~9.5 sigma) younger than the leaching residue. This implies that the dated sediment (detritus gyttja) is probably a mixture of material of different ages.
KIA16236: The ages of the leaching residue and of the humic acid fraction do not differ significantly. A piece of charcoal, however, found in the dated material turned out to be about 859 ± 53 years (16.25 sigma) older than the sediment indicating an admixture of older organic material.
