Comment:
Filtration rates (FR) were calculated assuming an average Chl-a concentration of 0.9±0.6 µg/l (range 0.2-2.1) at stations where salps were encountered. In brackets are parameters estimated using generalized rate models for S. thompsoni from Pakhomov et al. (2002, doi:10.1016/S0967-0645(02)00017-6): log (IR in µg (pig)/ind/ day)=2.0948 log (TL(mm)) + 0.7424; log (IR in µg C/ind/day)=1.9913 log (TL(mm)) - 0.3605; log (FR in l/ind/day)=1.8603 log (TL(mm)) - 1.4266. IR = ingestion rate.
