Comment:
Vertical profiles of downward irradiance Ed (z,lambda) in and upward radiance Lu (z,lambda) in were determined with Satlantic profiler (SPMR-SeaWiFS Profiling Multichannel Radiometer). Profiles up to 90 m were covered in 13 channels between 412 nm and 700 nm. All measurements were made according to the recommendations of the SeaWiFS validation team (Mueller and Austin 1995). The sampling data rate was 6 Hz. The free fall velocity of the SPMR instrument was justified by ballast in such a way that more than 5 spectra were samples per meter.
