Comment:
During the period of investigations from 1989 to 2000 all in all 200 stations were occupied in various regions of the Laptev Sea shelf (Fig. 2.1). 600 zooplankton samples were collected and processed. Sampling was carried out both in the shallow bays and in the open-water areas of the Laptev Sea up to the 100-m isobath. The following material was collected: 9 samples from Anabar Bay (1990, 1993), 35 samples from Olenek Bay (1989-1993), 230 samples from Buor-Khaya Bay (including Tiksi Bay; 1990-1997), 14 samples from Yana Bay (1990, 1993, 1995) and 25 samples from the straits of the Novosibirskiye Islands and the Novosibirskoye shoal (1993). 33 samples were obtained during the Russian-American expedition MERA-95 aboard RV "Yakov Smirnitsky" in August/September 1995. During the Russian-German helicopter-supported expedition TRANSDRIFT IV in May/June 1996 43 samples were collected. 70 samples were taken during the cruise on RV "Polarstern" in September 1998 (TRANSDRIFT V). During the subsequent helicopter-based expedition TRANSDRIFT VI 43 samples were collected in April/May 1999. In August/September of the same year 31 zooplankton samples were taken aboard RV "Yakov Smirnitsky" (TRANSDRIFT VII). This work also partly uses data obtained at two 24-hour stations according to horizontal distribution in September 2000 (TRANSDRIFT VIII).
