250 dpi colour images were obtained from freeze-dried, powdered samples by a line scan camera mounted to the ITRAX XRF core-scanner. From these colour photographies colour values in the red-green-blue (RGB) system were determined. The mean RGB-values of a 5 x 20 mm wide area in the central part of each sample were measured using the free image-analysis software ImageJ (http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/).
