Dataset consists of modern climate variables of 326 modern surface pollen sampling sites (including 248 published in Tarasov et al. (2011) and 78 compiled in this study) estimated from a global climate dataset (New et al., 2002) using the Polygon 2.3.3 software (see Nakagawa et al., 2002, doi:10.1016/S0277-3791(02)00014-8; Software available at http://dendro.naruto-u.ac.jp/~nakagawa/).
