Comment:
Floral foam visible here was used to stabilize a loose, sandy slump slayer which otherwise would have disintegrate during the drying process. Thus, the image has been taken next to the impregnated sediment. Floral foam is also commonly used to fix the sediment-water interface in surface cores. The dark grains distributed all over the image is the residue of the abrasive powder used for grinding and polishing the thin section.
