Method: 3cc samples measured by water displacement (Bonny, 1972) were treated as follows: 10% NaOH and place in boiling water bath for 5 minutes. Decant and sieve off coarse material. Remove silica by boiling in 40% HF for up to 40 mn. Hot 10% HCl for 15 mn. 9ml acetic anhydride to 1ml concentrated sulfuric acid in boiling water bath for 3 mn. wash and neutralise. 10ml tertiary butyl alcohol, stir, centrifuge and decant. Silicone oil (2000cs).
