Samples taken at a mean depth of 0.4 m below spring low water. Abundance of seagrass species in terms of shoot density and biomass was estimated from 27 biomass core samples (diameter 10.5 cm, depth 15 cm; 0.0087 m**2 respectively) collected alongside the 9 belt transects. In each of the 15 quadrats of 1 m**2 per transect the number of seagrass shoots was counted within a randomly placed iron frame (10 x 10 cm).
