Isotope analyses of G. ruber consisted of 7-8 shells in the 212-250 µm size fraction. One or two C. wuellerstorfi individuals were analyzed. For Mg/Ca analysis, approximately 25 shells (250-355 µm) were weighed, gently crushed, and cleaned using a multi-step reductive/oxidative procedure developed for trace element analysis (Boyle, Keigwin, 1985/6; doi:10.1016/0012-821X(85)90154-2) and subsequent revision (Rosenthal et al., 1995; doi:10.1016/0012-821X(95)00056-I).
