Absolute age estimates were determined based on average sedimentation rates within each planktonic foraminiferal biozone and magnetochron. Paleotemperature estimates were calculated using the equation of Erez and Luz (1983), with seawater delta18O=-1.2 per mil PDB corresponding to a continental ice-free world (Shackleton and Kennett, 1975).
