Hole 504B now extends over a kilometer into basement, nearly twice as far as any other DSDP hole, and it is the only DSDP hole to have clearly penetrated into the intrusive sheeted dikes that underlie the extrusive pillow lavas of the upper oceanic crust. At Hole 504B, Leg 83 continued an ongoing DSDP effort that began during Legs 68, 69, and 70 in 1979, and also included part of Leg 92 in 1983. 71 cores; 514 m cored; 0 m drilled; 21 % recovery Parameter(s): DEPTH, sediment/rock [m] (Depth sed) * GEOCODE Sample code/label (Sample label) * METHOD/DEVICE: DSDP/ODP/IODP sample designation (URI: hdl:10013/epic.27914.d001) Sand [%] (Sand) * METHOD/DEVICE: Smear slide analysis Silt [%] (Silt) * METHOD/DEVICE: Smear slide analysis Size fraction < 0.002 mm, clay [%] (<2 µm) * METHOD/DEVICE: Smear slide analysis Lithology/composition/facies (Lithology) * METHOD/DEVICE: Smear slide analysis Comment (Comment) * METHOD/DEVICE: Smear slide analysis Quartz [%] (Qz) * METHOD/DEVICE: Smear slide analysis Feldspar [%] (Fsp) * METHOD/DEVICE: Smear slide analysis License: Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported (CC-BY-3.0) (URI: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/) Size: 8 data points */ Depth sed [m] Sample label Sand [%] Silt [%] <2 µm [%] Lithology Comment Qz [%] Fsp [%] 836.00 83-504B-71-1,0 99 1 0 PHONY SLIDE FOR SCREEN PROGRAM Dominat lithology; numerical abundance 100 1
