Multibeam data were collected during R/V Polarstern cruise ARK-III/3. Data recording was executed west of Svalbard and was supervised by four hydrographers. Data are unprocessed and may contain outliers and blunders. Therefore the data should not directly be used for grid calculations and charting projects but need to be edited furthermore. One file normally contains a measurement period of one day. The dataset consists of 20 files in originally Seabeam binary multibeam format (*.geo) and additionally of 20 files converted into a more common Seabeam format (*.mb14). Both datasets are compressed with GZIP to size of 12.2 MB. Seabeam data files (*.mb14) can be processed using the open source software package MB-System (http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/res/pi/MB-System/) or the software package CARAIBES from IFREMER.
