Comment on sulfur values: The high sulfur values > 5% determined with the LECO instrument are minimum values as shown by re-measurements using an ELTRA-CS 500 instrument (which is better calibrated for very high sulfur values) (H. Brumsack, ICBM Oldenburg University, pers. comm. July 2006). This results in even lower C/S ratios in the euxinic intervals, and thus does not change but support the interpretation discussed in the paper.
